Ortho X quarter plates from South Australia

These quarter-size glass plates were found in individual envelopes. Each contains the plate number, image title, date and information on the camera, exposure parameters and the developer used. The photographer used a Cameo camera sold by W. Butcher and Sons Ltd. of London before WWI. The Cameo cameras were made in Germany first by Hüttig and then by ICA after the merger in 1909. The camera was equipped by Aldis lens produced in Birmingham, England by Aldis Brothers in simple Lucos shutters that were also produced by ICA in Germany.

All images were taken on Kodak Ortho X plates and developed in Kodak D-72 methol-hydroquinone developer in 1:1 concentration (except for the railway scene image that was developed in Azol). The dates range from 18th of April, 1945 to 1st of January 1947. All locations are near Adelaide in South Australia.
